Optimal Hydrophobicity in Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization-Based Protein Mimics Required for siRNA Internalization

Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) serves as an ideal platform for the synthesis and study of protein mimics. Designing synthetic mimics of important proteins enables the creation of new model materials that expand our knowledge and potential utility of these mimics. The precise synthetic capabilities of ROMP allowed us to demonstrate an optimized protein mimic hydrophobicity for delivery of biologically relevant cargo, siRNA, into human T cells, which are essential components of the immune system known for being difficult to manipulate.
