Russell Group publishes in Advanced Functional Materials

Pu Fan*, Dayong Zhang, Yao Wu*, Junsheng Yu, and Thomas P. Russell* recently published an article entitled, "Polymer-modified ZnO Nanoparticles as Electron Transport Layer for Polymer-based Solar Cells" in Advanced Functional Materials. By mixing an insulating polymer, polystyrene (PS), with ZnO nanoparticles (NPs), we not only obtain a dense and uniform ETL with thickness of 130 nm, but also optimize the electron collection and contact properties between ZnO NP ETL and active layer. A maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 9.54% was realized when using PS-ZnO NP ETL in the typical PTB7-Th:PC71BM fullerene PSCs, along with excellent devices reproducibility, flexible mechanical endurance and air stability.
