The U.S. Department of Education has recently awarded the Polymer Science and Engineering Department a three year Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) grant totaling $950,000. The funds will be used by PSE to continue the Department's pioneering working in STEM education.
The Objectives of this GAANN are:
1) to educate exceptional doctoral students in polymer research and teaching methods
2) to recruit women and underrepresented minority (URM) group members in greater numbers
3) to expand a departmental culture that retains talented doctoral students, especially women and those from URM backgrounds.
