President Tisato Kajiyama Receives Honorary Degree

At the Graduate Commencement on May 25, alumnus Tisato Kajiyama, President of Kyushu University in Japan, will receive an honorary Doctor of Science Degree.  President Kajiyama was honored by the Polymer Science and Engineering Department in April with a special symposium.  Dr. Kajiyama was in Boston in April to receive his Distinguished Alumni Award from the UMass Amherst Alumni Association.  President Kajiyama earned the first Ph.D. from the Polymer Science and Engineering Department in 1969.  At the Symposium to Honor President Kajiyama, he was joined by Professor William J. MacKnight, Professor Frank Karasz, Professor Richard Stein, Professor Atsushi Takahara, Dr. Lothar Kleiner and Professor Samuel Gido, all who made presentations.
