Research by Evon S. Petek* and Reika Katsumata* was recently published in Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics.  In this paper, a review of contact angle and surface energy measurements for thin polymer films revealed that the critical thickness at which these properties deviate from bulk (≈100 nm) cannot be explained by existing wetting/dewetting theoretical models.
