Katsumata Group publishes in the Journal of Polymer Science

Autumn M. Mineo,* Maren E. Buck and Reika Katsumata* have recently published a paper entitiled, "Molecular design of polymer coatings capable of photo-triggered stress relaxation via dynamic bond exchange" in the Journal of Polymer Science. In polymer coatings and films, there are unavoidable residual stress at the interface due to property mismatches between the coating and the substrate. To address this challenge from a new perspective, we report a material design of stress dissipating polymer films synthesized by ring-opening reactions of poly(2-vinyl-4,4-dimethyl azlactone) to introduce a photo-triggered dynamic bond exchange moiety, allyl sulfide.
