New Student Information

Welcome students! We hope that the following information assists you in your transition to the Amherst area.

Most graduate students in the PSE program live off campus (<5 miles) and they reside in a shared apartment or house. While several students drive to campus, they do have the option of taking a bus, riding a bike or walking.  To help students navigate the rental process, the University provides off-campus housing information as well as information on family housing.  The PSE department also maintains a housing document compiled by PSE students with local rental information. The Daily Collegian also advertises for housing as well as helps students get better acquainted with life on Campus.

To become more familiar with the campus, view the Campus Map. For bus route information visit Transit Services or Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) where you can view the schedules/routes.

The Academic Calendar, Graduate Student Handbook, New Student Checklist and other informative topics are on the Graduate School's website.

A listing of the PSE course offerings with descriptions is located on the Course page of our website.

Please stop by the main office and introduce yourself when you arrive in Amherst. We look forward to meeting you.
