PSE Community Safety Guidelines

It is critical that you follow the established university protocol with regard to safety while on campus, especially while within a laboratory. All individuals conducting research or working in research labs in any capacity at UMass are required to take lab safety training through the UMass Environmental Health and Safety Office, and to renew the training on an annual basis. Training session schedules can be found on their website. While the initial training is in person, renewals can be done online. Be aware that a lapse is safety training will result in a loss of Conte building access and the ability to perform research in an laboratory.

All lab personnel must take the Laboratory Fire Safety training modules. Depending on what you will be working with in your lab, you may also be required to complete Biological Safety training or Radiation Safety training. Check the training calendar and then register online. You will need your UMass ID number to register. If you have any trouble with the online registration, please call the main EH&S line at (413) 545-2682 for assistance.
