Reading your email

Using your mail client (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.) Detailed instructions for POP are here
Set your client up to use the server mail.pse.umass.edu with either IMAP or POP.
IMAP: it is recommended that you use IMAP4 on port 993 with SSL enabled
or
POP: POP3 should be used on port 995 with SSL enabled
For outgoing email, please use
SMTP server mail.pse.umass.eduwith SSL on port 465 or 587
- Using webmail:
Point your browser at PSE webmail page (http://mail.pse.umass.edu). Please note that you may have to accept an SSL certificate and allow URL redirection.

Changing your password
From within the Conte Building, please visit this page: PSE change password page
From outside Conte, or as an alternate method
Windows:
- Download (and install) the appropriate version of SecureCRT from OIT (currently here)
- Open the program
- Right-click on Sessions
- Select New Session
- Click Next
- Type mail.pse.umass.edu in the Hostname field
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- Double-click mail.pse.umass.edu back in the Connect window
- Click Accept and Save
- Enter your username and password (current password, the one you are planning on changing)
- In the mail.pse.umass.edu - SecureCRT window, right after the "> " prompt type
- passwd
- Type your old password (followed by Enter), type the new password twice (each followed by Enter)
- Type
- logout
- close the window
Mac OS:
- In Applications/Utilites open Terminal
- Type
- ssh mail.pse.umass.edu -l *** (where *** is your username)
- Type your password
- Right after the "> " prompt type
- passwd
- Type your old password (followed by Enter), type the new password twice (each followed by Enter)
- Type
- logout
- Close the window
