Stochastic Resonance During a Polymer Translocation Process

An article by Debasish Mondal and M. Muthukumar published in J. Chem. Phys.

Stochastic resonance (SR) explores how noise in a system is harnessed to synchronize the response of a system to an externally applied force field.  Muthukumar’s group have developed an analytical theory for the occurrence of stochastic resonance when a single flexible polymer chain undergoes translocation. They have derived the free energy barrier for the translocation process and the criteria for the emergence of stochastic resonance.
