Connor Evans receives 2015 SPE Fellowship

Connor Evans of Lesser Group received the 2015 Society of Plastics Engineers Injection Molding Division Scholarship.  Connor has demonstrated the use of superheated water as an environmentally friendly processing aid for commercial polyamides.  Polyamides can be melt processed at temperatures up to 80°C below conventional melting temperatures in the presence of superheated water.  New foams and anisotropic phase separated materials have been molded under these conditions.  Extrusion of polyamides in the presence of superheated water has been successfully piloted and a continuous extrusion process is being developed.
