Mission Statement: To act as a cross-roads where University research and education meet with Industry and Government partners in Polymer Science and Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst to leverage resources and foster partnerships that lead to lasting value collaborations.

The Center: The oldest National Science Foundation established Industry / University Cooperative Research Center (NSF-I/UCRC), established in 1980, has evolved into a dynamic Center program.  Its multi-part structure offers flexibility to participating members in tailoring their research programs and objectives. The customized approach allows Sponsors to meet the challenges of integrating cutting-edge science and technology transfer in a fast-paced business world.

Polymer Short-Course
April 14 - 15, 2014

Registration Flyer (pdf)

This two-day course is taught by University of Massachusetts Amherst, Polymer Science and Engineering Faculty and is designed for those with some technical background or education. Attendees can expect to learn about polymer synthesis and characterization, engineering design and performance of polymer materials. The course will look at polymers from the basic principles, opportunities and applications, and issues associated with performance. Attendees will gain a better understanding of synthetic techniques, polymer structure-performance relationships and mechanical testing methodologies. The course will cover thermoplastic / thermoset materials and natural polymers from current application through new opportunities.
