About the Workshop

The Division of Polymer Chemistry of the American Chemical Society is offering an interdisciplinary workshop entitled, “Opportunities for Nanostructured Polymeric Materials for Device Fabrication”. It will be held at Harrah’s Resort, Lake Tahoe, on November 4-7, 2007. The workshop will provide a forum where scientists will have the opportunity to present their latest results in this important field. The meeting will provide a forum where scientist can gather and discuss the latest breakthrough in nanostructured polymeric materials for device fabrication. In particular, current and future opportunities for these advanced materials will be highlighted. The intention is to host a small interactive forum of speakers, poster presenters, and attendees in a comfortable setting where ideas can be openly discussed with the hopes of fostering new directions in this research area. The organizers plan to make funds available for travel grants allowing students in the later part of their graduate program to attend. The invited speaker list includes scientists from the US as well as from abroad.

Who Should Attend:

The workshop is designed to be accessible to scientists responsible for the design, synthesis, and characterization nanostructured polymeric materials as well as scientists dealing with the physic of these materials and engineers concerned with fabrication, testing and design of functional devices. We plan to have significant participation from industry and national labs with the goal of bringing together both scientists, technology managers and business leaders concerned with strategies that allow them to remain competitive in this rapidly changing area. Additionally, the speakers will be available to discuss issues of interest with the participants during the workshop, especially during the poster session.
