A Managing Director (MD) is sought for the EFRC, an interdisciplinary research center for polymer-based solar energy research, funded for 5 years by the U.S. Department of Energy starting August 2009. The Center tenure is renewable for an additional 5 years, based on a performance review in or about 2014. The MD will lead efforts to build an industry affiliates program for commercializing Center research, working with the campus intellectual property office and Center for UMass/Industry Research on Polymers (CUMIRP). The MD will also coordinate work with the Center's partner investigators off-campus; periodic, Center-supported travel to these sites and occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary.

Proven abilities with technical report writing and related business communications are critical. Completion of professional development training in technology licensing and sponsored research administration is desirable but not required.
